Kalon, on your device
A private, agentic AI that runs entirely on the hardware you already own. Models download inside the app, sized to your device.
Requirements: macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon; iOS or iPadOS 17 or later. No account needed. The Mac app is signed and notarized by Apple, and keeps itself up to date. Model downloads are the only network activity by default and can be disabled in Settings.
Kalon is open source. Read the code, or build it yourself.

- 405 open-weight models, from 90 million to 1 trillion parameters (0.06 GB to 412 GB), sized to your device's memory automatically.
- Agent
- Tool use, memory, skills, and plugins. Model Context Protocol (MCP) over stdio and HTTP.
- Vision
- Images and documents understood locally, including OCR.
- Voice
- On the Mac: offline speech recognition (Whisper, Moonshine), Dictate anywhere with ⌃⌥Space, on-device speech with 12 Kokoro voices, and English voice cloning from a take of about fifteen seconds. On iPhone: Apple speech recognition and on-device speech.
- Documents
- PDFs, images, and text documents read on the device, with OCR for scans and retrieval across a chat's attachments.
- Data
- Conversations, files, and memory stay on your device.
- Remote models
- Optional, off by default. You choose the provider and the key.
- Backups
- Password-protected, AES-encrypted archives you can move between your own devices.
- Block all network access
- One switch stops Kalon's outbound connections, including model downloads, online models and realtime voice.
- Air Kalon
- Animated-code screen-to-camera transfer with RaptorQ fountain coding. Up to 43 KB/s Mac to iPhone, and any missed frame is recovered.
- AirLink
- Sealed text and voice over Bluetooth LE and peer-to-peer Wi-Fi, relayed through nearby devices.
- Local API
- OpenAI-compatible endpoint served from the app on localhost, optional LAN access.
- Extensibility
- Skills in plain Markdown, plugin bundles, and MCP servers over stdio or HTTP.
