Open source
Built in the open
Kalon is built in the open. The code that runs on your device is code you can read, build, and change.
Why
Trust is verifiable
A private assistant has to prove it. When the inference path, the network policy, and the storage format are public, "nothing leaves your device" is a fact you can check, not a promise.
The edge is everyone's
Edge intelligence only matters if it reaches the people the cloud does not. Open code lets anyone run it, port it, and improve it for their own hardware and language.
Better software
Bugs get found faster, ideas arrive from places we would never look, and the people who depend on Kalon can fix what they need without waiting for us.
Repositories
- KalonThe macOS and iOS apps and the Rust core: inference, agent loop, tools, MCP, local API, backups.
- Air KalonOptical screen-to-camera transfer, with the fountain-code core and golden test vectors.
- AirLinkSealed text and voice between nearby devices over Bluetooth LE and peer-to-peer Wi-Fi: the mesh, the crypto, and the call path.
Contribute
- 01Read the code and open an issue when something looks wrong.
- 02Send a pull request. Small, focused changes with a test are the fastest to land.
- 03Port it. New platforms, languages, and hardware are the point.
Licensing is stated per repository. Questions about contributing or licensing: dev@kalonedge.com.
